Many of our 4th – 8th grade students serve as Altar Servers for masses throughout the school year.
Our lower wing students and upper wing students team up every year as Prayer Buddies. They sit together at weekly mass and do activities throughout the year.
Every year, we do a Baby Shower and bring donated gifts for Mutual Ground, Catholic Charities, Hesed House, and Pregnancy Aid Illinois
We integrate current events into our religion classes. The school was so excited to learn of the election of our new Pope!
We prepare students for the sacraments of First Communion in 2nd Grade and Confirmation (we prepare in 7th grade and have receive with the Bishop in 8th Grade). We have a beautiful May Crowning every year for our 2nd graders after their First Communion.
Our priest comes into our classrooms on the first day of school to bless us and wish us a healthy new school year.
In October, we do a Living Rosary with all of our students together in church.
Kindergarten through 8th Grade go to mass once a week on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. Our PreK3 and PreK4 students go to “Mini Mass” afterwards to learn about our church and faith at their level.
“We the community of St. Rita of Cascia School believe that we are called to live the gospel message in the world through spirit, body, mind, and heart.
At St. Rita of Cascia Catholic School, we nurture students who live with faith, learn with purpose, and lead with heart—making good choices, being kind, loving themselves and others, praying always, and taking action to transform the world.
